This policy describes how RMF Radio, published by Be Medias Inc., collects, uses, retains, and protects your personal data. In accordance with Quebec Law 25, the EU GDPR, and the Canadian PIPEDA.

At RMF Radio, we take the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy is written in clear language, without unnecessary jargon, so that you understand exactly what we do with your information — and what we don't do.
We never sell your data. We don't use it for behavioral advertising. We don't engage in commercial profiling. We only collect what's necessary to respond to you when you write to us, and to run our audio player and our podcasts.

In accordance with Quebec Law 25, Be Medias Inc. has designated a Personal Information Protection Officer within management. This function is jointly assured by the co-founders Julien Cardon and Delphine Béné, who can be reached at contact@rmf-radio.com.
03Data collected
RMF Radio collects personal data only in specific and limited cases. Here is the exhaustive list:
3.1 — Contact form data
When you use our contact form available on the contact page, we collect:
- Your first and last name (required)
- Your email address (required) — to reply to you
- Your company name (optional)
- The subject of your request (required)
- The content of your message (required)
- Your acceptance of this privacy policy
3.2 — Technical browsing data
When you visit the Site, certain technical information is automatically collected by our host Netlify and by the third-party services we use:
- Your IP address (anonymized when possible)
- The type and version of your browser
- Your operating system
- The pages viewed and the approximate duration of the visit
- The referring site (for example, if you arrive from Google or a social network)
- Approximate geolocation data (at country/region level), with no finer precision
This technical data is used in an aggregated and anonymous manner to understand the Site's audience (how many visitors, which countries, which pages most viewed) and to improve the service.
3.3 — Audio listening data
When you listen to the live audio stream or a podcast:
- RadioKing (which broadcasts our audio stream) collects statistical listening data: connection country, listening duration, browser, device type. This data is used by us to measure the radio's audience.
- SoundCloud (which hosts our podcasts) collects data in accordance with its own privacy policy when you click on an embedded podcast player. We have no direct control over these collections.
04Processing purposes
Your personal data is collected and used only for the following purposes:
- Reply to your requests sent via the contact form or by direct email
- Establish a business relationship with advertisers, partners, and journalists who contact us
- Measure the audience of the Site and the radio, in an aggregated and anonymous manner, to understand our listeners and improve our editorial offer
- Detect and prevent abuse: spam attempts, technical attacks, fraud
- Comply with our legal obligations (particularly tax and accounting, in the case of a business relationship)
We never sell your data to third parties. We don't engage in behavioral advertising. We don't use Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, or any Google Analytics functionality beyond aggregated audience measurement. We don't create automated marketing profiles based on your behavior.
05Legal bases for processing
In accordance with the EU GDPR and applicable Canadian laws, each data processing relies on an identifiable legal basis:
- Your explicit consent (GDPR Article 6.1.a) — for sending the contact form, validated by the dedicated checkbox
- The performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Article 6.1.b) — when you contact us as an advertiser, partner, or provider
- Be Medias Inc.'s legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f) — for aggregated and anonymous audience measurement, as well as for Site security
- Compliance with legal obligations (Article 6.1.c) — for retaining certain data for tax and accounting purposes
06Processors and data recipients
To run the Site and the radio, Be Medias Inc. uses technical providers who may access some of your data strictly within the scope of their mission. Here is the complete, up-to-date list:

Each processor is bound to Be Medias Inc. by the general terms of the service used, which include confidentiality and data protection commitments. No data is transferred to a third party for commercial purposes.
07Data transfers outside the European Union
Some of our processors (Netlify, Google, Vimeo) are established in the United States. Be Medias Inc. itself is established in Canada. Consequently, if you are a resident of the European Union, your data may be transferred outside the EU.
These transfers are governed by:
- The adequacy decision of the European Commission recognizing that Canada offers an adequate level of protection for personal data (Decision 2002/2/EC for organizations subject to PIPEDA)
- For transfers to the United States, the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, integrated into the contracts of the processors concerned
- The EU-US Data Privacy Framework when the processor is certified under it
08Retention period
Your data is only retained for the time strictly necessary for the purpose pursued:
- Messages received via the contact form: retained for 3 years from the last exchange, in accordance with applicable statutes of limitations
- Business exchanges (advertisers, partners): retained for 10 years from the end of the relationship, in accordance with Canadian accounting and tax obligations
- Technical browsing data (server logs): retained for 13 months maximum, then deleted or anonymized
- Aggregated audio listening data: retained indefinitely as anonymous statistics (with no link to an identifiable person)
09Cookies and trackers
The Site uses a limited number of cookies and trackers, in a logic of transparency and respect for consent.
9.1 — Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site and its features to function. They do not require your prior consent.
- Netlify session cookies: for security and spam prevention on the contact form
- Local preference cookies: to locally memorize the state of your audio player (current playback, volume) and your choice regarding audience measurement cookies, via your browser's
localStoragetechnology. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to RMF Radio.
9.2 — Audience measurement cookies (Google Analytics 4)
RMF Radio uses Google Analytics 4 to measure Site audience and improve its content. These cookies are only deposited after your explicit consent via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit.
If you refuse or don't respond to the cookie banner, no Google Analytics cookie is deposited on your device.
If you accept, the following cookies may be deposited:
_ga— anonymous visitor identifier, retention 13 months maximum_ga_XWL3FV4RGE— session identifier for the RMF Radio property, retention 13 months maximum
Protection measures applied by RMF Radio:
- Your IP address is anonymized before any processing by Google (
anonymize_ipparameter enabled) - Google's Consent Mode v2 is enabled: if you have not accepted, GA4 deposits no cookie and only sends anonymous, aggregated technical signals
- No identifying personal data is transmitted to Google (no last name, first name, email)
- No Google advertising feature is enabled (no remarketing, no Google Ads signals)
You can change your choice at any time by deleting cookies from your browser (the cookie banner will reappear). You can also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block GA4 across all websites.

9.3 — Third-party cookies deposited by embedded players
When you interact with certain embedded elements, the third-party services concerned may deposit their own cookies:
- SoundCloud: when you click on an embedded podcast player, SoundCloud deposits cookies in accordance with its cookie policy
- Vimeo: when you launch the TV5MONDE video on the Manifesto page, Vimeo deposits cookies in accordance with its cookie policy
9.4 — What we don't use
We do not use any of the following:
- No Meta Pixel (Facebook)
- No LinkedIn Insight Tag
- No TikTok Pixel
- No advertising cookies or retargeting pixels
- No behavioral personalization cookies
- No fingerprinting (digital footprint) or cross-site tracking
10Your rights
In accordance with Quebec Law 25, the Canadian PIPEDA, and the EU GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Right of access — you can ask us to communicate the data we hold on you
- Right of rectification — you can request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) — you can request the deletion of your data, within the limits provided by law
- Right to restriction of processing — you can request that the processing of your data be temporarily suspended
- Right to object — you can object to the processing of your data on legitimate grounds
- Right to portability — you can retrieve your data in a structured and machine-readable format
- Right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal
- Right to set post-mortem directives regarding the fate of your data after your death (GDPR Article 84; equivalent provisions of Law 25)
- Right not to be subject to automated decision-making — note: RMF Radio does not engage in any automated decision-making concerning you

We undertake to respond to your request within a maximum of 30 days, in accordance with the requirements of Law 25 and the GDPR. This period may be extended by a maximum of two months in cases of particular complexity, in which case you will be informed.
For security reasons, we may ask you for proof of identity before processing your request, to ensure that we are communicating with the right person.
Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the competent authority:

12Minors
The Site and RMF Radio's services are intended for an adult and family audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14 years old (Quebec Law 25 threshold) or under 15 years old (GDPR threshold in France), without the prior consent of a parent or holder of parental authority.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and you believe your child has transmitted personal data to us without your consent, please contact us at contact@rmf-radio.com and we will proceed with the deletion of this data as quickly as possible.
13Data security
Be Medias Inc. implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against any unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction:
- HTTPS encryption across the entire Site (Let's Encrypt SSL/TLS certificate, automatically renewed)
- Selection of recognized providers for their security level (Netlify, Google Workspace)
- Limited access to data to authorized personnel (only co-founders Julien Cardon and Delphine Béné)
- Two-factor authentication on sensitive administrator accounts
- Automatic deletion or anonymization of data we no longer need
In the event of a data breach likely to generate a high risk for your rights and freedoms, we undertake to notify the incident within 72 hours to the competent authorities, and to inform you if the law requires it.
14Modifications to this policy
This privacy policy may be modified to reflect legislative, regulatory, technical, or operational changes. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
In the event of a substantial modification affecting your rights or the processing purposes, we will inform you visibly on the Site, and if applicable, directly by email if we have your address.
